Life

Albert Schwarz grew up in Wandhagen as the youngest child of a large farming family who belonged to the local long-established families. From 1881 to 1885 he attended the art academy in Berlin to become a painter. However, he then turned to writing. At the age of 30 he was a theater and art advisor for the Berlin court newspaper . From 1895 he edited the Low German magazine " De Eekboom " and made it the leading magazine of the Low German literary movement. For 25 years he was editor-in-chief of the "Eekboom" and thus the standard bearer of this movement.

Schwarz wrote his own works initially in the Pomeranian dialect of his homeland, later in the dialect of Fritz Reuters . He was co-editor of the collected works of Fritz Reuters and together with Hermann Jahnke wrote a dictionary on Reuter's works. The poem Reinke dei Voss (Reineke the Fox) from 1896 is one of his better-known works .
