Albert Tschautsch
Albert Tschautsch (born December 20, 1843 in Seelow , † January 18, 1922 in Berlin ) was a German genre painter .
Life
Albert Tschautsch studied from 1863 to 1867 at the Akademie der Künste (Berlin) and was a student of Julius Schrader (1815–1900). In his search for a subject , Tschautsch mainly used motifs from fairy tales and legends. He also worked as a portrait and history painter . From 1870 he took part in various exhibitions. From 1874 to 1878 he stayed in Rome. He then became a teacher at the Royal Art School in Berlin, where he had held a professorship since 1895.
There is a preserved nave painting from 1878 by Tschautsch in the Poznan Church of St. Joseph . These are the adoration of the shepherds and the fall of Jesus under the cross .
Albert Tschautsch was buried in the Berlin Lichterfelde cemetery. His grave has not been preserved.
