Albert Weidemann

Albert Weidemann (born June 1, 1848 in Saalfeld , † February 10, 1922 in Eisenach ) was a German ministerial official in the Prussian military administration.

Life

Albert Weidemann was the son of a high school supervisor. He spent his youth in Meiningen , where he attended the Bernhardinum . From 1867 he studied law in Göttingen and was active here in the Hannovera fraternity . He continued his studies in Leipzig, Munich and Berlin.

The legal clerkship in the Duchy of Saxony-Meiningen was extended because he volunteered in the Franco-German War in 1870/71 , in which he was awarded the Iron Cross, 2nd class. In 1872 he was promoted to reserve officer.

After the second state examination in law, he worked as a court assessor in Meiningen until 1876. He then moved to the Prussian military administration and was a year as director-assessor and department head at the XI. Army Corps in Kassel. Two years later he became director of the 22nd Division in Berlin. In 1882 he was appointed to the directorate. In 1883 he was transferred to the Guard Corps in Berlin, to which the Prussian Guard units belonged. From 1887 to 1890 he worked in the War Ministry , was then reassigned to the Guard Corps, where he was head of the relevant organizational unit as military director. In this position he received the character of a Privy Council of War in 1890

In 1895 Weidemann was promoted to the Real Secret War Council with the rank of First Class Council and headed the catering department in the War Ministry until his retirement in 1911. This made him one of the highest civil servants in this department. His work was honored by the award of the Red Eagle Order II. Class with star and oak leaves, the Crown Order II. Class with Star and the Commander's Cross II. Class of the Duke Saxony-Ernestine House Order .

After the outbreak of war in 1914, he was reactivated and during the First World War he was a member of the mobile army intendant, which had to fulfill the often difficult task of securing food supplies for the troops.
