Emil Möhrlin

Emil Möhrlin (born February 1, 1883 in Stuttgart ; † November 27, 1952 there ) was a Baden-Württemberg businessman and politician.

Life

Emil Möhrlin studied at the Technical University of Karlsruhe engineering and became in 1903 a member of the Corps Franconia . After completing his studies as a Dipl.-Ing. he joined the company founded by his father in 1875, E. Möhrlin GmbH in Stuttgart, of which he became personally liable partner. The company specialized in the manufacture of heating and ventilation systems. As part of his entrepreneurial activity, he was involved in various industrial associations. From 1946 to 1949 he was President of the Association of Mechanical Engineering Institutions of Württemberg-Baden and from 1951 to 1952 Chairman of the State Association of Baden-Württemberg Industry

With the re-admission of political parties by the American military government in October 1945, Möhrlin was one of the founding personalities of the Christian Social People's Party in Stuttgart, which a few months later renamed itself the Christian Democratic Union. From 1945 to 1948 he was the first district chairman of the CDU in Stuttgart. In 1946 he was a member of the Constituent State Assembly of Württemberg-Baden . From 1946 to 1952 he was a member of the state parliament of Württemberg-Baden . In March 1952 he was elected to the Constituent Assembly of Baden-Württemberg , of which he belonged until his death.

The landscape painter and professor at the Kunstgewerbeschule and Landeskunstschule Karlsruhe Hermann Göhler (1874–1959) published a portrait of Emil Möhrlin in 1955. In the upper left corner of this oil painting there is a full coat of arms of the Corps Franconia Karlsruhe.
