Albert von Escher
Albert von Escher (* 20th May 1833 in Zurich , † 16th May 1905 in Geneva ) was a Swiss amateur - painter with a focus on military issues. In addition to battle pictures, he emerged primarily through watercolors and portfolios of Swiss uniforms . In the Swiss Army he held the rank of captain .
Works
Albert von Escher created watercolor series with the titles "The Swiss Militias of the 18th Century" (160 watercolors), "The Swiss Militias of the 19th Century" (530 watercolors) and "The Swiss Regiments in Foreign Service" (200 watercolors) . These watercolors were acquired by the Swiss Federal Council for the library of the General Staff . Reproductions of his works have appeared in portfolio works that Albert von Escher himself published , and were also used as illustrations in later publications.
