Alberto Ancilotto

Alberto Ancilotto (incorrectly also: Ancillotto , * 1903 in Treviso , † December 23, 1971 in Maserada sul Piave , Province of Treviso ) was an Italian short film director .

Life

Ancilotto comes from a noble family and moved to Crocetta del Monetello after his wedding in 1931 with Maria Teresa Catemario Di Quadri . After having been involved in photography since 1935, he, always a great animal lover, made mainly scientific short films about various animal species from 1940 onwards . His film Epeira diadema about a garden spider was nominated for an Oscar for best short documentary in 1952 .

In 1957 he made his only feature film, L'incanto della foresta , on the screenplay of which Pasquale Festa Campanile and Massimo Franciosa also collaborated, and which is one of the highlights of his collaboration with the documentarist Fernando Armati . Ancilotto himself also operated the camera. His short film I ditteri received an honorable mention at the Berlin Film Festival in 1959. Almost all of his films in the Montello and Piave region have been shown by the Rai and the BBC .
