Lasse Braun (1976)

Lasse Braun (real name Alberto Ferro ; * 1936 in Algiers ; † February 16, 2015 in Rome ) was an Italian film director . He is often referred to by his fans as one of the most stylish directors in porn chic and as the "king of modern pornography ". He is the father of the film director Axel Braun .

Life

Lasse Braun was the son of an Italian diplomat . He studied law in Milan and wrote a doctoral thesis on judicial censorship in the western world , which, however, was itself censored.

He smuggled pornographic magazines into Italy in his father's diplomatic car. At that time there was no persecution of pornography in Sweden only ; in Denmark the ban on written pornography in 1966 and pictorial pornography in 1969 were lifted. At that time Braun stayed alternately in these two countries, took part in the fight for the release of pornography in Denmark and began in 1966 in Sweden under his Scandinavian-sounding pseudonym hardcore short films of around 10 minutes each (so-called loops ), initially on Color- Super-8 -Film , later on 16mm film. He distributed the films by mail from Copenhagen , where he moved to in the late 1960s.

In 1973, when the ban on pornography was being lifted in several Western European countries, he moved his production company to the small Dutch town of Breda . That year, Lasse Braun's first full- length porn film, French Blue , was made, which was shown at the Cannes Film Festival in 1974 . His film Sensations (1975) was also shown in the USA and in Germany, where the pornography ban was lifted in 1975. Brigitte Maier (* 1952), with whom Braun was involved for a while, played in these films . Other films were made in Great Britain. In 1977 Lasse Braun's production company went bankrupt. The rights to his films were acquired by Gerd Wasmund , who also produces porn films in the USA under the pseudonym Mike Hunter .

After that, Lasse Braun sporadically produced porn films, sometimes on video , although he was never really able to make friends with this medium. He later lived mostly in the USA because, as he said, a lot still had to be done there for sexual liberalization.

Worth mentioning

For the soundtrack of his film Body Love he was able to win over the already very popular Berlin pioneer of electronic music Klaus Schulze .
