Albertus Johannes Roux Van Rhijn (born July 7, 1890 in Vanrhynsdorp, West Coast (South Africa) , † December 30, 1971 ) was a South African politician and ambassador .

Life

Van Rhijn was enrolled at Wellington High School in 1907, graduated from Victoria College in 1910, studied from 1912 at Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg , was under the direction of Wilhelm Salomon-Calvi in analyzes of the Bergheim (Heidelberg) Radium- Sol-Therme involved and became a Bachelor and Master in physics . From 1930 to 1953 he sat in the Senate of the University of South Africa , where he was Vice Chancellor from 1948 to 1952 . AJR van Rhijn was Minister of Health and Social Affairs from 1953 to 1954. From 1953 to 1958 he headed the Mining and Economics departments. At the beginning of October 1957 he visited the Federal Republic of Germany and spent two days in Heidelberg, where he met old friends from his student days at the European Court.
