Albin Siekierski (born March 1, 1920 in Imielin (Poland), † February 28, 1989 in Katowice ) was a Polish writer .

He was born into a family of railway workers. In 1938 he graduated from the classical high school in Mysłowice ( Myslowitz ). Although he never signed the German people's list , he was drafted into the Wehrmacht and sent to the Eastern Front, where he was wounded in the Battle of Kursk .

After his recovery he deserted from the German army. Thanks to the support of friends, he received new identification papers in the name of Bonifacy Czyżewski. As Czyżewski, he was picked up during a public raid in Krakow and deported to an aid camp in Saxony. There he had to work in a porcelain factory. After returning home, he studied at the University of Human and Economic Sciences in Katowice.

Literary work

Albin Siekierski made his poetic debut in 1936. After the war he printed two stories in the following press: "Gośc Niedzielny" (Sunday guest; weekly magazine published in Katowice) and "Ogniw" (the chain link) an organ by Armia Krajowa (AK) ( Polish Home Army, code name "Polski Związek Powstańczy" (PZP) - Polish Insurgent Association). In the fifties he was a member of the editorial group of “Poglądy” (Views). In 1958 he brought out the play "Domek z ogródkiem" (House with an allotment), which is intended for amateur theater. In 1959 the following pieces appeared: "Na granicy Górnego Śląska" (on the border of Upper Silesia) and "Umowa stoi" (the agreement is in place), and in 1960 the one-act play "Szarwark" ( Corvée ).

In 1960 the novel "Ocalenie" (Rescue) was published, which can be described as Albin Siekierski's actual debut. Other literary works of the author are: "Urodzajne piachy" ("Fertile sands") (1961), "Pół godziny przyjaźni" ("Half an hour of friendship") (1961), based on which "Czerwone berety" ("Red Berets") was made into a film, "Odchodzące niepokoje" ("Fading unrest") (1966), "Ku górze nad rzeką" ("The mountain by the river") (1971), "Ziemia nie boi się kul" ("Earth does not fear bullets") (1971), "Chłodny wiatr odpędza ptaki" ("Cold wind scares away the birds") (stories 1972), "Czarne i białe pióropusze" ("Black and white plumes") (1965), "Dziewczyna ze strzelnicy" ("Girls from the shooting range ") (1969)," Nie odpoczywa w spokoju "(" It does not rest in peace ") (1978)," Drzewo liści nie dobiera "(" The tree does not choose its leaves ") (1972)," Nie dojrzeje owoc "(" The fruit does not want to ripen ") (1975)," Nic się nie stało "(" Nothing happened ") (1975)," Druga strona księżyca "(" The other side of the moon ") (1979), screenplay on "Ślad na ziemi" ("Trace on Earth") (1977–1978). The plot of the novel "Ziemia nie boi się kul" takes place in Imielin during the Silesian uprisings .

Kazimierz Kutz based the script for "Paciorki jednego różańca" (Pearls of a Rosary) on a story belonging to the thematic group "Tego domu już nie ma" (this house is no longer) . Other plays by Albin Siekierski are: "Symulanci" (Simulants) (1963), "Nie wstydź się własnej żony" (Do not be ashamed of your wife) (1973), "Sprawa osobista" (personal matter) (1975), "Wina bez kary "(guilt without punishment) (1975)," Fermentacja "(fermentation) (1978). He also wrote the script for the television series "Blisko, coraz bliżej" (close, closer and closer).

Over the course of just thirty years, Albin Siekierski has written dozens of novels, short stories, plays and feature articles.

Between 1985 and 1989 he was a member of the Sejm of the People's Republic of Poland .

Albin Siekierski tragically died on February 28, 1989 at his place of residence in Katowice, Ligota (Ellgoth / Idaweiche). In 2004 a community-cultural society of his name was established in Imielin.
