The Albrecht Dürer School Primary and Werkrealschule Neckargartach (ADS) is a primary and Werkrealschule in the Heilbronn district of Neckargartach , which was built according to plans by the architect Wilhelm Hagner and inaugurated on October 22, 1956. It is considered a focus school .

history

In January 1955 the local authority decided to build a new school for 1.6 million DM. The school, completed in 1956, was named after Albrecht Dürer . In addition to the technical innovation of a shoe cleaning machine, well-known artists such as Wilhelm Schäffer (mosaic on the fountain), Walter Maisak (wire sculpture on the west gable, sower with migratory birds) and Bruno Velten (the sundial on the south side of the school building) were involved. The Heilbronn voice from 1956 wrote:

There is also a special novelty to be discovered in front of the large covered main entrance, which counts on the play of the children and, based on experiences in other places, saves the cleaning staff a lot of work. It is a shoe-cleaning machine whose rotating bristles are moistened to prevent the shoes they work on from carrying the dirt into school. Three Heilbronn artists were used for the artistic design. The large mosaic on the fountain was made by Wilhelm Schäffer. Walter Maisak designed the wire sculpture on the west gable, a sower with migratory birds, which alludes to the purpose of school to plant seeds in children's hearts. He also created the mural in the staircase hall, which is a symbolic representation of our planetary system. The sundial on the south side of the main building is the work of Bruno Velten .... The new school is located high above Neckargartach. Due to its dominant location and its modern lines, it became the landmark of this district. "

Neckargartach Mayor Haspel welcomed “the belated reconciliation gift from the groom Heilbronn to the bride Neckargartach” (Neckargartach was incorporated into Heilbronn in 1938). In 1961 the school was completed with the construction of the gym. The school attracted public attention through its events, for example through the serenade evenings that the choral and music association organized together with the students. For the 1200th anniversary of Neckargartach in 1967, the students made a contribution with lively history lessons . In 1970, 1040 students were taught by 40 teachers at the school.

In the 1980s the school cooperated with departments of the VfL Neckargartach , kindergartens and the special school for people with learning disabilities in the Leinbach School. The Albrecht Dürer School also took part in the “extended educational offer”, within which the pupils could take part in nature conservation. The “Albrecht Dürer School Support Group” has existed since 1988. In 2000 the all-day school was introduced, for which the school was structurally expanded. Sport and social skills have been included in the new school profile. The special tasks carried out jointly by the students are shown in the diploma.

School social work

In the 2003/2004 school year, school social work began with the preventive youth welfare project “Social Training Entrance Class Primary School” (STEG). The framework concept was worked out by the local government and the state education authority. The project for pupils of the first and second grade is carried out together with the class teachers and the social pedagogues as well as the social worker and lasts the entire school year with around 30 weekly units. The class is divided up in order to be able to respond more individually to individual students.

Sporting successes

  • In the school team competition youth trained for the Olympics in age group III, the students of the Albrecht Dürer School reached the national handball finals in Berlin in 1978.
  • In 2005, the girls' team at the Albrecht Dürer School became state champions in youth training for the Olympics as the best handball school team at secondary schools in Baden-Württemberg.
