Albrecht Jakob Zell (born May 6, 1701 in Hamburg ; † March 10, 1754 in Stadthagen ) was a German lawyer , librettist , poet and librarian .

Life

Zell grew up in Hamburg and studied law in Jena . After completing his studies, he can be verified in Glückstadt . He must have been in Hamburg in 1730/1731, as he wrote texts for Georg Philipp Telemann's church music years , which are known in music literature as "Zelleschen" or "oratorical" years.

He then moved to Bückeburg and found a job there in the office of Count zu Schaumburg-Lippe . In this function he was also the first court librarian in schaumburg-Lippe.

From 1739, Zell studied again and returned to Bückeburg in 1741 and soon after changed to the rectorate of the city school of Stadthagen.

In addition to the libretti for oratorio, he also wrote poems that are printed in Christian Friedrich Weichmann's "Poesie der Niedersachsen" .
