Never trust anyone is a French Action - Thriller by Éric Valette from the year 2011. On 2 April 2011, the film premiered at the Beaune Film Festival. The DVD title for the German-speaking area is On the Run .
action
Franck Adrien is serving a sentence for bank robbery in prison. Wife and child are waiting at home. Confidence in his inconspicuous cellmate Jean-Louis Maurel is said to be his undoing. Maurel is released before him, kills Franck's wife Anna, kidnaps his daughter Amélie and finds the hiding place for the booty. Since Franck can no longer reach his wife by phone, he uses a brawl among inmates to escape from prison. There is nothing more he can do for his wife, so he goes looking for his little daughter.
Maurel lays false leads that are supposed to convict Franck as a sex murderer. The police search measures will be expanded accordingly. The sex murders are Maurel's own acts and are covered by his wife Christine. She is so happy to be able to look after 4-year-old Amélie like her own daughter.
With the help of a suspended policeman who was also set up by Maurel, the fugitive was able to find Maurel's whereabouts: A chic Mediterranean holiday home in the country serves as a place of retreat. At dusk, Franck takes his daughter from the upper floor by climbing the facade and escapes with her from the house. The investigating police officers have now got on Maurel's trail and are rushing to his house. On a cliff there is a showdown between Franck and Maurel. Both plunge into the depths, but Maurel's body is found the next day.
Amélie lives in the children's home. She got over what she had experienced and played with other children. One day she receives anonymous mail from Morocco. The envelope contains one of her earlier drawings showing her family on a beach vacation. She knows that this is a message from her father - she once gave him the picture.
production
The budget of the film, which was produced by Brio Films, is given as 8.9 million euros. The revenue is just over $ 3 million. The locations named are Prague , Paris , Toulon and the Alpes-Maritimes department . Filming lasted around two months.
The role of the serial killer should be cast with a relatively unknown face in order to ensure an unbiased view of the viewer. Albert Dupontel was chosen by the director as the main actor because he is very sympathetic to the audience and has the necessary physical condition. He performed all of his stunts himself, which was probably the largest part of his scenes. According to his own statement, he could feel the tension in all scenes better. The director felt a cold sweat on his forehead when he learned that Albert Dupontel also decided to perform his stunts without any protection (padding / padding) despite all the risks. It just wasn't possible to make the upholstery invisible to the audience. The main actor did not get away without injury. He contracted a double sprain.
In January 2014 it was announced that the Dreamworks company was planning a remake.
Trivia
Attentive viewers noticed the similarity of the plot to the case of Michel Fourniret .
criticism
“ On the Run is not stingy with the depiction of brute force and also offers sophisticated and snappy action. Albert Dupontel as Franck Adrien convincingly gives the aging but indomitable outlaw with basic moral equipment. [...] Alice Taglioni (as an investigator) seems to have been written into the film. Incidentally, you don't want to hear the gossip about female intuition - which apparently still belongs to the standard when the female investigator in a thriller is smarter than her male superior. On the Run is still an entertaining film [...] "
"Inexorably, director Eric Valette (" Maléfique ") drives his brute, physical neo-noir cracker forward and pecks him with meanness."
"Exciting, well-played and technically perfect thriller with a plot that is as well thought out as it is original."
