Albrecht Kostlin

Albrecht Köstlin (born August 12, 1905 in Ochsenhausen ; † December 17, 1970 in Braunschweig ) was a German agricultural economist , agronomist and construction technologist in agriculture.

Life

After attending an agricultural school, he studied agriculture at the Hohenheim and Berlin University of Applied Sciences , did his doctorate with Zörner on a business topic and then took up a position at the Reich Board of Trustees for Technology in Agriculture (RKTL). The successor institution is the Board of Trustees for Technology and Construction in Agriculture based in Darmstadt .

During his work at the RKTL, Köstlin was also very active as a consultant in the agricultural construction industry. The experience from this work was reflected in various writings (including with Czerwinka and W. Geyer).

When he was appointed professor and director of the Institute for Agricultural Building Research at the Research Institute for Agriculture (FAL) in Braunschweig-Völkenrode , Köstlin was able to follow up on his earlier work in the work-economically functional design of farm buildings and farms . He headed this institute from 1947 until his retirement in 1970.

After the war, he carried out fundamental studies on the cost-effective adaptability of stable buildings, density measurements of straw materials, the straw chopping process and the like. Ä. The results of which he reported in the agricultural press.

On the occasion of the re-establishment of the German Agricultural Society (DLG) in Hohenheim in 1947, he was part of Adolf Münzinger's circle with the aim of re-establishing the Association of Old Hohenheim Teutons at the same time . After the reconstitution of the Corps Germania Hohenheim , which he had already joined as a Hohenheim student, he became an important member of the corps committee for the recovery of the corps house that had been expropriated during the Nazi era .

Köstlin's work also received a lot of attention abroad, the French government awarded him the Order of Mérite Agricole in 1969 . In the same year he received the Cross of Merit 1st Class of the Federal Republic of Germany.
