Albrecht Neiss

Albrecht Neiss (* December 24, 1938 ; † February 13, 2016 ) was a German medical statistician. He was particularly interested in therapy research and vaccination against chickenpox .

Life

Neiss studied mathematics . After completing his studies, he began to work as a biostatistician in 1966 and worked in the pharmaceutical industry. Soon Neiss decided on a scientific career and went to the Hanover Medical School , the Eppendorf University Medical Center and the University of Mainz . In 1970 he came to the Institute for Medical Statistics and Epidemiology at the Technical University of Munich . There he did his doctorate . 1977 followed his habilitation . In 1985 he became a professor at the University of Innsbruck . In 1993 he moved to the Technical University of Munich and headed the Institute for Medical Statistics and Epidemiology until 2005. Furthermore, from 2001 he was head of the Sylvia Lawry Center for Multiple Sclerosis Research .

For the German Society for Medical Informatics, Biometry and Epidemiology , Neiss worked in various committees. Among other things, he led the working group "Statistical Methods in Clinical Research".
