Albrecht Rychen (born July 29, 1948 in Wilderswil ) is a former Swiss politician ( SVP , BDP since 2008 ).

Life

Rychen is a qualified vocational school teacher and was rector of the BWZ Lyss vocational and further training center from 1979 to 2013 .

He began his political career in 1966 in the youth parliament in Bern, of which he was a member until 1969. In the same year he founded the Junge BGB of the Canton of Bern . From 1974 to 1987 Rychen was a member of the Grand Council of the Canton of Bern. From 1982 to 1987 he was also a member of the Lyss municipal council . From 1984 to 1996 he presided over the SVP of the Canton of Bern. From 1987 to 1999 he was a member of the National Council and was a member of the Foreign Policy Commission , which he chaired for two years, and the Commission for Social and Health Policy . From 1988 to 1992 he chaired the Federal Water Management Commission . In the 1999 parliamentary elections , Rychen, who is considered moderate, was not re-elected. Rychen was a co-founder of BDP Switzerland in 2008, a member of the management team of BDP Switzerland and program director.

From 1982 to 1996 Rychen was head of the Cantonal Association of Bern Health Insurance Funds . From 1995 to 2003 he was President of the Swiss Lung League. From 1998 to 2017 he was Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Visana health insurance company .

Rychen is widowed and has three children. He is a citizen of Wilderswil and lives in Lyss.
