Albrecht Wolfgang of Brandenburg-Bayreuth
Albrecht Wolfgang von Brandenburg (born December 8, 1689 in Sulzbürg ; † June 29, 1734 near Parma ) was a Margrave of Brandenburg from the Kulmbacher branch line (the Kulmbach-Bayreuth branch) of the younger line of the Franconian Hohenzollern and imperial general .
Life
Albrecht Wolfgang was the second son of Margrave Christian Heinrich von Brandenburg-Kulmbach (1661–1708) from his marriage to Sophie Christiane (1667–1737), daughter of Count Albrecht Friedrich von Wolfstein zu Sulzbürg. He grew up with his older brother Georg Friedrich Karl in Bielefeld and studied at the University of Utrecht . After his Grand Tour , which took him to France, England and Italy, he entered imperial service.
In his military career he reached the rank of Lieutenant General Field Marshal . He fell in the Battle of Parma while attacking Crocetta together with Field Marshal Claudius Florimund Mercy . Initially buried in Bayreuth , his remains were transferred to Himmelkron Monastery in 1742 , where his sister, the Danish Queen Sophie Magdalene , had a memorial erected for him.
