Broadcast date

Until about 1999, album pictures of a year (or an updated repetition) was always sent in the last two days of December. After that, the broadcast date was set before Christmas (December 23, 2001, December 18, 2005, December 17, 2006, December 21, 2008, December 20, 2009, December 19, 2010) without the repetitions (including on ZDFinfokanal ) being updated . Therefore, important events at the end of the year are no longer taken into account. The tsunami disaster of December 26, 2004 was only mentioned a year later on Album 2005 . The execution of the Iraqi ex-dictator Saddam Hussein on December 30, 2006 was also not mentioned in the 2006 album . However, this event was reported a few days later in a repeat in early January 2007. In 2011 the album was broadcast again later. With the date on Boxing Day, the show achieved the highest audience rating for years, so this date was continued.

music

For years the opening and closing credits were underlaid with the instrumental piece Eric's Theme by the Greek composer Vangelis from the film The Hour of the Winner (original title: Chariots of Fire). The monthly animations used the piece Rêve from the Vangelis CD Opera Sauvage (1979).
