Luigi Cossa

Luigi Cossa (born May 27, 1831 in Milan ; † May 10, 1896 ) was an Italian economist .

Life

Cossa came from a noble family (his father Joseph was a well-known polyglot and paleographer ). In 1853 he received his doctorate in law from the University of Pavia and then devoted himself to further political studies with L. Stein in Vienna and Wilhelm Roscher in Leipzig . In 1858 he was appointed associate professor, in 1860 full professor of political economy at the University of Pavia. Later he also received a professorship at the Milan Polytechnic . As an economist , Cossa tried to use the results of modern literature independently.
