Eberhard Piltz

Eberhard Piltz (born October 22, 1942 in Königsberg , East Prussia ; † November 20, 2011 in Munich , Bavaria ) was a German journalist and from 1999 to 2007 head of the ZDF studio in Washington .

Life

Piltz studied history , politics and newspaper studies in Munich . From 1965 to 1970 he was an editor at Bayerischer Rundfunk . From 1970 to 1974 he was editor and deputy editor-in-chief of the BR magazine Report Munich and was then director of the ARD studio in Tel Aviv until 1982 . Until 1985 he was head of the ARD studio in Rome and from 1985 to 1989 deputy head of the ARD studio in Bonn and moderator of the program “ Report from Bonn” .

Eberhard Piltz had been with ZDF since 1989, until 1993 he was director of the ZDF studio in Paris and from 1992 to 1993 chief reporter of ZDF. From 1993 to 1997, Piltz was the head of the ZDF main editorial office for news and moderator of the heute-journal . From 1997 to 1999 he was head of the ZDF studio in Rome again, from 1999 until his retirement in October 2007 he was head of the ZDF studio in Washington. From there he reported live about the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 .

Since 2007 Piltz has been a professor at the University of Television and Film Munich , where he headed the television journalism department.

After a brief, serious illness, Eberhard Piltz died on November 20, 2011 in Munich.
