Alec Lorimore

Alec Lorimore (born October 21, 1948 ) is an American film producer and screenwriter .

Life

Lorimore earned a bachelor's degree in film studies from the University of Southern California Film School in 1971 .

He specialized in large format documentaries , especially IMAX and 70mm formats. From 1993 to 2005, he served as Vice President on the MacGillivray Freeman Films production and development team . He is one of three producers of the IMAX classic Everest - Summit Without Mercy from 1998, the most successful IMAX production ever.

At the Academy Awards in 1996 he was nominated for an Oscar as one of three producers of the film Wonder World of the Seas in the Best Documentary Short Film. At the 2001 Academy Awards he was also nominated for the film Dolphins .

He was also successful with The Magic of Flight and At Sea , for which he received the Alfred Thayer Mahan Award for Literary Achievement from the Navy League .

Lorimore is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences (AMPAS).
