occupation

Wonder World of the Seas is a 1995 American documentary .

action

The film offers an insight into the marine world and the diversity of living things. It emphasizes that the world's oceans are a single global ocean and that life in the seas is intertwined. Humans penetrate this living space and thus destroy the sensitive system. But the film also shows people who work with and for the sea. One can see a family that lives on seafood. Shown are whale researchers, a coast guard rescue unit and a deep-sea research team. The highlight, so to speak, is a species of jellyfish that can only be found in a saltwater lake on Palau .

criticism

Roger Ebert of the Chicago Sun-Times was reluctant. Despite a Meryl Streep as the narrator and Sting's rousing music, the film is one of the weak and superficial films in widescreen format.

Awards

In 1996 the film was nominated for an Oscar in the Best Documentary Short Film category.
