Aleksandar Popović (born November 2, 1983 ) is a former Serbian football player. He was born in Austria , but gave up his Austrian citizenship and accepted the Serbian one.

Career

Popovic began his career in his home country of Carinthia with the BSV Juniors , the second team of FC Kärnten . In 2003 he moved to Slovenia to NK Bezigrad , from where he moved to FK Vojvodina Novi Sad in Serbia. Popovic joined the first team straight away and has been the captain of the Serbian first division team since the 2008/09 season. In 2009 he reached the runner- up with his team . He then moved to AO Kavala in the Greek Super League . There he only had a few short assignments and ended his career in 2010.
