Aleksander Franciszek Chodkiewicz (born June 4, 1776 in Chornobyl , Poland-Lithuania , † January 24, 1838 in Młynów , Volyn Governorate , Russian Empire ) was a Polish-Lithuanian nobleman , general, politician, researcher (in chemistry and technology) and poet from the noble family of Chodkiewicz .

Life

In 1812 Aleksander Franciszek was a member of the transitional government of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania , which was recaptured by French troops, and from 1813 a general, senator and castellan of the Kingdom of Poland . Aleksander was also active as a poet in the scientific field of chemistry and literature. His parents were Jan Mikołaj Chodkiewicz and Maria Ludwika Chodkiewiczowa, née Rzewuska .

He was married to Karolina Teressa Walewska from 1799. With her he had the three children Zofia Chodkiewiczowa, Jan Karol Chodkiewicz and Michał Mieczysław Chodkiewicz (1807-1851).

After divorcing Karolina in 1814, he married Franciszka Ksaweryna Szczeniowska. The wedding took place in Młynów in 1824. With her he had a son, Bolesław Chodkiewicz.
