Mlyniw (Ukrainian Млинів ; Russian Млинов / Mlinow , Polish Młynów ) is an urban-type settlement in the western Ukrainian Rivne Oblast with about 8,400 inhabitants. It is the administrative center of the Mlyniw Rajons of the same name and is located on the Ikwa River , about 46 kilometers southwest of the Oblast capital Rivne .
On August 1, 2016, the settlement became the center of the newly established settlement community Mlyniw (Млинівська селищна громада / Mlyniwska selyschtschna hromada ). history
The place was mentioned in writing for the first time in the 15th century, received Magdeburg town charter in 1789 and after the 3rd partition of Poland the place came to the Russian Empire in the Volhynian governorate in 1795 . After the end of the First World War the place became part of the Second Polish Republic ( Voivodeship Volhynien , Powiat Dubno), after the outbreak of the Second World War the area was occupied by the Soviet Union and from 1941 by Germany , in 1945 it finally came to the Soviet Union and became incorporated into the Ukrainian SSR . Since the independence of Ukraine in 1991, Mlyniv has been part of the same. Since 1959 the place has had the status of an urban-type settlement.
