Tomaschhorod (Ukrainian Томашгород ; Russian Томашгород / Tomaschgorod , Polish Tomaszgród ) is an urban-type settlement in the Rivne Oblast in northwestern Ukraine in a forest area about 10 kilometers northwest of the Raion capital Rokytne and 94 kilometers northeast of the Oblast .
history
The settlement emerged around 1800 as part of the Volhynia Governorate and thus the Russian Tsarist Empire , but it was only with the construction of the railway line that the town became larger in the course of the construction of a train station and took the name of the village of the same name further north, Tomaschhorod .
After the regaining of Polish independence and the end of the Polish-Soviet War , Tomaschhorod came to the Republic of Poland as Tomaszgród in 1921 and was located here in the Polesian Voivodeship (until 1925) or Volhynia Voivodeship , Powiat Sarny, Gmina Klesów. When the Second World War broke out in 1939, however, the settlement was incorporated into the Soviet Union during the occupation of eastern Poland by the Red Army . During the Second World War, Klewan was occupied by the Wehrmacht between 1941 and 1944 . After the end of the war, the settlement came back to the Soviet Union, and in 1980 the place was given the status of an urban-type settlement.
There are several gravel works and granite quarries in the local area.
