Wolodymyrez (Ukrainian Володимирець ; Russian Владимирец / Wladimirez , Polish Włodzimierzec ) is an urban-type settlement in the western Ukrainian Rivne Oblast with about 9,000 inhabitants. It is the administrative center of the Wolodymyrez Rajons of the same name and is located about 90 kilometers north of the Oblast capital Rivne .
history
The place was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1570, received Magdeburg town charter in 1667 and was incorporated into the Volyn Voivodeship as part of the aristocratic republic of Poland-Lithuania . After the 3rd partition of Poland , the place came to the Russian Empire in the Volhynia governorate in 1795 . After the end of the First World War the place became part of the Second Polish Republic ( Voivodeship Volhynien , Powiat Sarny), after the outbreak of the Second World War the area was occupied by the Soviet Union and from 1941 by Germany , in 1945 it finally came to the Soviet Union and became incorporated into the Ukrainian SSR . Since the independence of Ukraine in 1991, Volodymyrez has been part of the same. Since 1957 the place has the status of an urban-type settlement.
