Eliezer Shostak ( Hebrew אליעזר שוסטק; * December 16, 1911 in Volodymyrez ( Russian Empire ); † August 20, 2001 in Ramat Gan ) was an Israeli politician.

Life

He was born in the Russian Empire , where he joined the Betar movement in 1930 . In 1935 he immigrated to the League of Nations mandate for Palestine . There he was first in a workers brigade of the Betar and was elected secretary of the National Workers Labor Federation in 1936 . He became a member of the Central Committee of the right-wing Hatzohar and sat on its national executive council. Then he became a member of the Cherut movement led by Menachem Begin . In 1966 he faced Begin in internal party power struggles and lost. He was a member of the Knesset from 1951 to 1988 and Israeli Minister of Health from June 20, 1977 to September 13, 1984 .
