Viktor Shem Tov

Viktor Schem-Tov ( Hebrew ויקטור שם-טוב; * February 1, 1915 in Samokow ; † March 8, 2014 ) was an Israeli politician .

Schem-Tow was Israeli Minister without Portfolio (1969-1970), also Minister of Health (July 27, 1970 to June 20, 1977) and Minister of Welfare and Social Services (June 3, 1974 to October 29, 1974).

Viktor Schem-Tow came from a family of goldsmiths based in Samokow in western Bulgaria . He lived mostly in Sofia and was a member of the Maccabi youth movement. In 1939 he immigrated to Palestine, where he joined the Hashomer Hatzair youth organization that same year . Shem-Tow became a member of the Jerusalem Workers' Council in 1946 and was chairman of the Bulgarian Immigrant Association from 1949 to 1950.
