Hoschtscha (Ukrainian Гоща ; Russian Goschtscha , Polish Hoszcza ) is an urban-type settlement in the western Ukrainian Rivne Oblast with about 5300 inhabitants. It is the administrative center of the Hoschtscha Rajon of the same name and is located on the Horyn River , about 26 kilometers east of the Oblast capital Rivne .
history
The place was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1152, after the 3rd partition of Poland the place came to the Russian Empire in the Volyn Governorate in 1795 . After the end of the First World War , the place became part of the Second Polish Republic ( Voivodeship Volhynia , Powiat Równe), after the outbreak of the Second World War the area was occupied by the Soviet Union and from 1941 by Germany , in 1945 it finally came to the Soviet Union and became incorporated into the Ukrainian SSR . Since the independence of Ukraine in 1991, Hoschtscha has been part of the same. Since 1957 the place has the status of an urban-type settlement.
