Alena Leanidauna Buna ( Belarusian Алена Леанідаўна Бунас , Russian Елена Леонидовна Бунос Jelena Leonidovna Bunos , English transcription: Elena Bunos7. January 1983 in Minsk ) is a former Belarusian billiards player , in the billiards variant Russian billiards took, and now -trainerin.

In 2007 she was the first Belarusian to become world champion in the free pyramid discipline, as well as vice world champion in 2006 and vice-European champion four times in a row from 2007 to 2010 . In addition, she became team world champion with the Belarusian national team in 2008 .

Life

Alena Bunas was born in Minsk in 1983 , where she grew up. She studied sports at the Belarusian State University with a specialization in billiards and graduated in 2005.

After completing her studies, she moved to Moscow , where she has since worked as a trainer for billiards, table tennis and fitness .

Career

Buna began at the age of seven years with the billiards . She first drew international attention in 2004 when she reached the quarter-finals at the European Championships , in which she lost to Tatiana Maximowa . In 2005 she was team runner- up world champion together with Ihar Kupawa and Uladsislau Wassilenka . At the EM 2005 Bunas reached the semi-finals, in which she was defeated by the defending champion Anna Maschirina . Also at the 2005 World Cup , which was held for the first time , she made it to the semifinals and was only just beaten 3: 4 by the eventual world champion Maschirina.

At the beginning of 2006 Bunas moved into the final of the European Cup for the first time, in which she was defeated by Anna Maschirina 4-5, and was again runner-up with the Belarusian national team . After she was eliminated in the quarter-finals of the 2006 European Championship , she achieved three more podium finishes in the European Cup; at the second tournament of the year she reached the final, which she lost to Shanna Schmattschenko 3: 5, at the third tournament and the final tournament she reached the semi-finals. In December 2006, she was the first Belarusian to reach the World Cup final in Vantaa, Finland, and was only just 4-5 defeated by defending champion Anna Maschirina.

After she was eliminated in the opening tournament in 2007 in the preliminary round, Bunas achieved her first European Cup victory in March 2007 when she defeated the Ukrainian Olena Afanasjewa 5-2 in the final of the tournament in Wolschski . At the team World Cup 2007 she finished third with the Belarusian team. In May 2007 she moved into the European Championship final for the first time , in which she had to admit defeat to defending champion Anastassija Luppowa 3: 5. In early 2010, Bunas reached the final of the Prince Open , which they just lost to Natalija Kornewa (4: 5), and secured another bronze medal in the European Cup. This was followed by early defeats before reaching the quarter-finals at the Kremlin Cup and the 2010 World Cup and the semi-finals at the second tournament of the Prince Open 2010. In November she moved into the final of the European Championships for the fourth time in a row and lost again, this time against Olga Milowanowa (3: 5). At the 2010 European Cup final, she was eliminated in the round of 16.

In 2011 Bunas started in the World Cup by winning the bronze medal at the opening tournament and reaching the quarter-finals at the second tournament. On the other hand, she was eliminated in the preliminary round at the third World Cup and the European Championship , where she had previously been in the final four times. In the second half of the year she made it to at least the semifinals of all four tournaments, including the World Cup, where she won her fourth World Cup medal after losing to Sarjana Prytuljuk in the semi-final , and the 2011 Kremlin Cup . At the end of the year she reached the final of the third tournament of the Prince Open 2011 and lost to Diana Mironowa (1: 5).

2012 was less successful for Bunas. In February she reached the final at a smaller tournament in Moscow. On the other hand, she had to accept a preliminary round at the EM 2012 , the Minsk Open and the Kremlin Cup 2012, among others . Her best results of the year were reaching the quarter-finals at the opening tournament of the Prince Open and at the World Cup. The World Cup in her hometown of Minsk, where she lost 4-0 to defending champion Diana Mironova in the last eight, was her last World Cup participation.

In October 2013 Bunas won an international tournament for the last time with the Minsk Open , in which she beat Ukrainian Oksana Krasko 4-1 in the final . In addition, she reached the round of 32 at the Moscow Mayor's Cup in 2013 and the second round at the Prince Open and the Kremlin Cup .
