Free pyramid world championship

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Free Pyramid World Championship is an annually held billiards tournament in the Free Pyramid , a discipline of Russian billiards . The organizers of the tournament are the International Committee of Pyramid and the pool world association WPA .

The record winner with three titles is the Kazakh Qanybek Saghyndyqow .

The first official world championship in the Free Pyramid was held in 1999 and won by the Russian Evgeny Stalew , who also became world champion the following year. 2001 Qanybek Saghyndyqow won his first title. At 17 years and 11 months, he is the youngest ever winner. Since Russian billiards is known and popular mainly in the CIS countries , most of the successful players also come there. The Italian Giorgio Margola and the Latvian Māris Vartiks were the only medalists so far who did not come from the CIS countries. Germany has hosted three times so far: the World Cup took place in Kirkel in 2000, and in Willingen in Hesse in 2002 and 2010 .

A separate world championship for women has been held since 2005. The record winner is the six-time world champion Diana Mironova . The Russian won her first title in 2010 at the age of 14 years and 5 months, making her the youngest ever winner.
