Kanybek Kalugulowitsch Sagynbajew ( Russian Каныбек Калугулович Сагынбаев , English transcription: Kanybek Sagynbaev ; born November 11, 1985 in Frunze , Kyrgyz SSR ) is a Kyrgyz billiards player . He was three times world champion - 2007 and 2014 in the dynamic pyramid and 2010 in the free pyramid - and three times vice world champion and is thus the most successful player in individual world championships in Russian billiards .

He also works as a billiards official and trainer.

Career

Kanybek Sagynbajew was born in 1985 in Frunze, today's Bishkek , and grew up as the eldest of three siblings in simple circumstances. He lost his father at the age of six and his mother worked for a butcher shop.

Sagynbaev began playing billiards at the age of eight . At the age of thirteen he was the youngest player to become a Kyrgyz champion . From 2003 to 2008 he won the title every year. In 2002 he reached the final of the Asian Cup in Almaty and won the Governors' Cup in Yekaterinburg . In 2003 he became the U21 World Junior Champion in Moscow . In the same year he was eliminated from the World Cup in the Free Pyramid in the round of 32 against Ihar Kupawa . He also won a Eurasian Cup tournament for the first time in 2003, where he won three more over the next three years.

In 2004 he succeeded in defending his title at the Junior World Championship. At the Asian Cup 2004 he was third. At the 2004 World Cup , he reached the quarter-finals, where he only just lost (4-5) to Oleh Matschtakow . In March 2005, Sagynbayev won the bronze medal at the Team World Cup with the Kyrgyz national team. After he was eliminated in the preliminary round at the 2005 World Cup , he reached the quarter-finals in 2006 after defeating defending champion Yuri Pashchinsky and lost to Oleksandr Palamar .

In April 2007 Sagynbayev reached the final of the first ever World Championship in the Combined Pyramid , in which he had to admit defeat to Ukrainian Oleksandr Palamar 6: 7. In October he achieved his fifth tournament victory at the Eurasian Cup. A few days later he moved into the final of the first World Cup in the Dynamic Pyramid in Saint Petersburg , where he met Oleksandr Palamar again, but was now world champion for the first time with a 7-5 win. In November 2007 he won his first World Cup medal in the Free Pyramid when he reached the semi-finals and lost 5-6 to eventual world champion Kanybek Sagyndykow . In the same year he won the Galaxy Cup in Chelyabinsk and reached the final of the Palmyra Cup in Yalta .

In 2008 Sagynbayev reached the round of 16 at the Combined Pyramid World Cup . In 2009 he moved into the final of the Free Pyramid World Cup , in which he had not participated in the previous year, for the first time, in which he was defeated 6: 7 by the Russian Pavel Mechowow . At the beginning of 2010 he reached the final of the World Cup in the combined pyramid for the second time and lost 6-2 to Jernar Tschimbajew . In October 2010 he reached a World Cup final for the third time in a row : In Willingen he defeated the Russian Pawel Kusmin 7-2 and thus became world champion in the Free Pyramid for the first time.

The following two years were less successful for Sagynbayev. At the five world championships he reached the round of 32 twice ( Combined Pyramid 2011 and Dynamic Pyramid 2012 ) and was eliminated three times in the round of 64, including the Combined Pyramid World Cup 2012 in his hometown of Bishkek. In summer 2012 he won the Legends of Billiards Tournament. In March 2013 he won an invitation tournament in Bishkek. After being eliminated from the preliminary round without a win after two games in the Combined Pyramid in the round of 32 and in the Dynamic Pyramid in 2013 , he reached a World Cup round of 16 in the Free Pyramid for the first time in three years, which he did lost to Alexander Banny . At the end of 2013 he reached the semifinals of the Kremlin Cup and the St. Petersburg Open .

After the second round at the Combined Pyramid World Cup 2014 in Cholponata and a fifth place in the Kyrgyz championship , Sagynbayev became world champion for the third time in September 2014: In the World Cup final in the Dynamic Pyramid, he defeated the Kazakhs D Acern Urynbayev 7: 5, after he had already led 6-2, and after winning the title in 2007 he was the first player to become world champion in this discipline for the second time. After his compatriot Kanybek Sagyndykow, who started for Kazakhstan, he was the second player to win three titles in individual world championships in Russian billiards. A few weeks later, however, he was eliminated in the preliminary round of the World Cup in the Free Pyramid .

In early 2015, Sagynbayev reached the round of 32 at the World Cup in the Combined Pyramid . At the 2015 World Team Championship, he and Dastan Lepschakow formed the Kyrgyz team that was eliminated in the semi-finals against Belarus. In October 2015 he lost to Älibek Omarow in the round of 16 at the Dynamic Pyramid World Cup . A little later he also reached the round of 16 in the Free Pyramid . At the Combined Pyramid World Cup in 2016 , the second round followed. In October 2016, he was the only Kyrgyz in the quarter-finals of the World Cup in the Dynamic Pyramid, which was held for the first time in Bishkek, where he was defeated by Russian Ildar Wachitow 5-7 . In November he was eliminated in the last 32 of the Free Pyramid .

In April 2017, Sagynbayev was eliminated from the Combined Pyramid World Cup for the fifth time in a row in the sixteenth finals, this time he had to admit defeat to his compatriot Dastan Lepschakow, whom he trained himself. At the Asian Indoor & Martial Arts Games 2017 he reached the quarter-finals in English Billiards , where he had to admit defeat to gold medalist Sourav Kothari 3-0. In the competition in the Dynamic Pyramid he lost in the round of 16 against Älichan Qaranejew . At the end of the year he was eliminated from the preliminary round of the final tournament of the World Cup without a win.

In April 2018 a first round defeat against Jernar Tschimbajew followed at the World Cup in the Dynamic Pyramid . He also lost his opening game in the Free Pyramid , this time against Vladimir Reyes .

Another opening defeat followed at the Champions Cup in Moscow in early 2019. Two weeks later he won the Combined Pyramid World Cup against former world champion Älibek Omarow (6: 5) before losing 4-6 to Kazakh Shanserik Nijetalijew in the round of 32 . After he was eliminated without a win in the preliminary round at the Moscow Mayor 's Cup, he reached the sixteenth-finals at the Free Pyramid World Cup , in which he lost to Volodymyr Perkun . At the Akhmat Kadyrov Cup in Grozny in 2019 , he reached the quarter-finals and was defeated by the eventual tournament winner Iossif Abramov . At the end of the year the Kremlin Cup (round of the last 64) and the Savvidi Cup (round of the last 144) were twice more early eliminations.

At the beginning of 2020, Sagynbayev reached the round of 16 at the Kyrgyz Championship in the Combined Pyramid .

Functionary career

Sagynbayev was Deputy Secretary General and is Vice President of the Kyrgyz Billiards Association. He successfully campaigned for a World Cup to be held in Kyrgyzstan for the first time in 2012 with the Combined Pyramid World Cup . Later he was involved in the organization of two further world championships ( Combined Pyramid 2014 and Dynamic Pyramid 2016 ) and the Asian Championship in Six-Red-Snooker 2017, the first international snooker tournament in Kyrgyzstan.

Awards

In 2008, Sagynbayev was honored by President Kurmanbek Bakiyev for his services to the promotion and development of billiards in Kyrgyzstan and received a two-room apartment.

Others

Sagynbayev received several offers for Russia or Kazakhstan . The Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov is said to have personally suggested that he play for Chechnya . However, Sagynbayev decided to continue to start for his homeland.

Since 2008 he has been running a billiards school, which produced world champion Dastan Lepschakow , among others .

Sagynbayev studied economics and management at the Sports Academy in Bishkek, and sports science from 2011.

He is divorced from a journalism student he met during an interview and with whom he has a daughter.
