Aleksandr Viktorovich Sidorov ( Russian Александр Викторович Сидоров Alexander Viktorovich Sidorov ; born  July 28, 1990 ) is an Uzbek billiard player from Buxoro , who competes in the billiard variant Russian billiards . He became world champion in the combined pyramid discipline in 2016 , making him the only Uzbek to have won a world title in Russian billiards. In addition, he won the Kremlin Cup in 2017 .

Career

In February 2011 Sidorov first took part in a world championship, the Combined Pyramid World Cup in Almaty , and reached the round of 16 there, in which he was defeated 2: 5 by Russian Andrei Freise . Later in the year he took part in several major tournaments in Russia , but never got past the round of 32. In early 2012, he reached the quarter-finals at the Kirov million tournament in Kirov after defeating former world champion Oleksandr Palamar , among others . At the Combined Pyramid World Cup in 2012 in Bishkek , he was eliminated in the round of 32 against the Kyrgyz Kanat Sydykow . At the end of the year he won the Empire Cup in Ussuriysk with a 4-2 final victory over Russian Pawel Kuzmin .

In 2013 Sidorov started with another tournament victory when he prevailed 6-2 against Oleksandr Palamar in the final of the Kirov Million Tournament. Shortly afterwards he was eliminated again in the round of 32 at the Combined Pyramid World Cup , this time against Aleh Retschyz ( 5-6 ). At the end of February 2013, he moved into the final of the winter tournament of the Nord Light Vologda 2013 series in Vologda , where he lost 5-2 to Nikita Liwada . A little later he won the Sagida Murtasalijewa Cup in Kislyar and a tournament in Lipetsk . This was followed by three early defeats. It was not until the Savvidi Cup that he made it back to the second round and the quarter-finals at the spring tournament of the Nord-Light-Vologda series. In May he won the Pogodin Open in the final against Sergei Grjasnow . At the Dynamic Pyramid World Cup 2013 , he just missed making it to the round of 16 with three wins in five preliminary rounds. In September Sidorov first took part in the Free Pyramid discipline at the World Cup and was eliminated in the round of 64. At the 2013 Empire Cup, he defended his title in the final against Jaroslaw Tarnowezkyj with a 5-3 win. A week later, in the final of the Mayor's Cup in Vladivostok , he met again on the Ukrainian Tarnovetskyi, who this time he had to admit defeat 2: 5. At the end of the year he dropped out of the Kremlin Cup and the St. Petersburg Open early.

After he Kirov million tournament was eliminated defending champion without a win in the first round when and reached the semi-finals when Vladislav Tyrin Cup, Sidorov won in April 2014 by a 6: 3-final victory against poor Gabrieljan the Tschernosem -Pokal. A few days later, he made it past the round of 16 for the first time at the Combined Pyramid World Cup . It was only in the semifinals that he had to admit defeat to eventual world champion Jewhen Novossad by 5: 6 and was the second Uzbek to win a World Cup medal in Russian billiards after Rustam Usmonov ( 2001 ). At the Dynamic Pyramid World Cup 2014 , Sidorov reached the round of 16 and was defeated by Russian Nikita Liwada 5: 6. A few days later he moved into the final at the Empire Cup after two victories in previous years, but this time he had to admit defeat to Moldovan Sergei Kryzhanovsky 4: 5.

At the beginning of 2015 Sidorov reached the second round of the Combined Pyramid World Cup , in which he was defeated by Andrei Freise. At the superfinal of the world championships , an invitation tournament in Surgut with the eleven best-placed players of the three world championships in 2014, Sidorov took seventh place. At the 2015 World Cup, he reached the quarter-finals once and the final once, in which he lost 6-1 to Alexei Schoschin . In the further course of the year he finished fifth at the Empire Cup and reached the quarter-finals of the Kremlin Cup. At the final tournament of the World Cup, however, he was eliminated in the round of 32 against the eventual finalist Artur Piwtschenko .

In March 2016, Sidorov reached the final of the Combined Pyramid World Cup after defeating Ihor Lytovchenko , defending champion Älibek Omarow and Asis Madaminow , among others . In the final against the Kazakhs Arbi Muzijew he prevailed 6-2 and became the first Uzbek world champion in Russian billiards . At 25 years, 8 months, 5 days he was the second oldest world champion in the combined pyramid discipline. In August he won the final against Iossif Abramow (6: 5) at the Kropotkin Open in Kropotkin . A month later he reached the semifinals at the Savvidi Cup , in which he lost 4-5 to Russian Dmitri Schkoda . After finishing fourth at the Empire Cup and reaching the round of 16 at the Kremlin Cup, he was eliminated from the 2016 Free Pyramid World Cup with a 6: 7 opening defeat against Annamämmet Annamämmedow in the round of 64. Another early elimination followed at the World Cup final tournament with a win from three preliminary round matches.

At the beginning of 2017, Sidorov was eliminated from the Combined Pyramid World Cup , where he was the defending champion, in the round of 32 against Jaroslaw Tarnowezkyj 5-6. A little later he reached the semi-finals of the Moscow Mayor's Cup and was defeated by the eventual winner Sergei Goryslavets . In the following days he played two more tournaments in Moscow and took third place (Royal Open Cup) and second place (Legends Cup). In July he won the Stavropol Cup in Isobilny in the final against Vladislav Osminin 5-0. A month later he became the first Uzbek to win the Kremlin Cup with a 30:15 final win over Armenian Rasmik Vardanyan . He also made it to the final at the Savvidi Cup 2017 , but this time he had to admit defeat to defending champion Dastan Lepschakow 2: 6. At the end of the year he was eliminated from the World Cup final tournament in the round of 32.

Sidorov reached the semi-finals at the 2018 Mayor's Cup in Kaliningrad . A little later, however, he had to accept an opening defeat at the Dynamic Pyramid World Cup against Maxim Pan . In September 2018 he reached the semi-finals of the Kremlin Cup , where he defeated the eventual tournament winner Oleg Yerkulew 3: 5 as defending champion . After finishing 33rd at the 2018 Empire Cup, he was eliminated from the 2018 Savvidi Cup , one year after reaching the finals, in the round of 16 against Pavlo Radionov .

In May 2019 Sidorov won the Kalikjan tournament in Magadan, Russia, by beating Konstantin Schinkarew 4-0 in the final . After reaching the quarter-finals at the Akhmat Khadji Kadyrov tournament, he was eliminated in the last 64 of the 2019 Kremlin Cup . In October 2019 he reached the semifinals of the Savvidi Cup , in which he lost 2: 5 to the Kyrgyz Asis Madaminov.
