Serghei Krîjanovski ( Russian Сергей Русланович Крыжановский Sergei Ruslanowitsch Kryschanowski , English transcription: Sergei Kryzhanovsky ; born  July 7, 1996 in Floreşti ) is a Moldovan billiard player who competes in billiards .

He became world champion in the free pyramid discipline in 2014 and 2018 and vice world champion in the combined pyramid in 2019 . He is the only Moldovan so far to have won a world title in Russian billiards . The two-time youth world champion also became European champion in 2014 and won the Savvidi Cup in 2019 .

Life

Krîjanovski was born in 1996 as the first of two children in Floreşti . In 2008 he moved to his aunt in the capital Chișinău , as there were better training conditions.

His younger brother Alexander Krîjanovski is also a billiard player.

Career

2005–2012: Beginnings and first successes in youth

Krîjanovski began at the age of nine with the billiards . Initially he trained in Bălți, 30 kilometers from his hometown, and later in Chișinău with coach Alexander Kraschewski .

From 2007 he took part in the European Youth Championships every year , but was mostly eliminated early. In 2009 he became the Moldovan men's championship with a 6: 3 final win against Igor Melnikow . In 2010 he played for the first time in the youth world championship , in which he was eliminated without a win in the preliminary round. In October 2010 he took part in the adult World Cup for the first time. At the Free Pyramid World Championships in Willingen he defeated Jernar Tschimbajew , who had become world champion in the combined pyramid at the beginning of the year, and made it to the final round. There the 14-year-old Krîjanovski, who was the youngest of the 32 remaining players, had to admit defeat to the Ukrainian Jewhen Palamar 3: 6.

In early 2011, Krîjanovski reached the quarter-finals for the first time at the European Youth Championships. At the European Championship for adults , after defeating the three-time European champion Oleksandr Palamar , among other things , he reached the semifinals, in which he was defeated by the later European champion Jewhen Talow . He also made it to the semifinals of the Ukrainian Independence Cup in 2011 and this time lost to Yaroslav Tarnovetsky. In September 2011 Krîjanovski became youth world champion in Kazan , in the final he prevailed against the Kazakh Älibek Omarow 6: 5. A month later he reached the quarter-finals of the Free Pyramid World Cup for adults, in which he was defeated by his compatriot Vidjai Drangoi .

In January 2012 Krîjanovski reached the final of the Podillia Christmas Cup and lost 3: 5 to Andrij Senyk . After he was eliminated at the European Youth Championship in the round of 16 and at the European Championship for Men in the sixteenth finals, he moved into the final at the Minsk Open , in which he lost 4-2 against Ivan Pawenko . At the end of the year he was eliminated from the Free Pyramid World Championships in the round of 64 and at the Dynamic Pyramid World Championship in the preliminary round.

2013–2016: First world title

In early 2013, Krîjanovski reached the final at the California Open in Kharkiv , where he lost to Dmytro Biloserow 5-7 . At the Combined Pyramid World Cup in 2013 he reached the round of 32 and was only barely defeated by the eventual world champion Jaroslaw Tarnowezkyj 5: 6. At the Sportholl Cup in Chișinău , he reached the semifinals. After narrowly missing out on the round of 16 at the Dynamic Pyramid World Cup , he finished in the top 16 at the Free Pyramid World Cup , where he lost to Andrej Hluschanin . In October 2013 he became youth world champion for the second time , this time with a 6-4 final win over Russian Kirill Jurin . By the end of the year he achieved good results in several tournaments. So he arrived at the Kremlin Cup quarter-finals, where he later tournament winner Vladislav Osminin narrowly (4: 5) was defeated, the semi-finals reached at Plato star in Kiev , winning by a 7: 3 win over Pavlo Radionov the St. Petersburg Open .

In April 2014, Krîjanovski won his first World Cup medal when he only lost to the Uzbek Aleksandr Sidorov in the semifinals of the Prince Open . In August 2014 he became European champion with a 7: 6 final win against Jauhen Kurta . By contrast, he was eliminated from the World Youth Championship in the Combined Pyramid in the round of 16 and the Men's Combined Pyramid World Cup in the round of 32. In September he won the Imperial Cup in the final against Aleksandr Sidorov (5: 4). At the Youth World Cup in the Free Pyramid , he just missed the quarter-finals as defending champion. In November 2014, Krîjanovski in Khanty-Mansiysk was the only Moldovan to reach the final of a world championship in Russian billiards and became world champion in the Free Pyramid with a 7: 5 win against the Ukrainian Oleksandr Palamar . A little later he reached the quarter-finals at the Savvidi Cup .

At the Combined Pyramid World Cup 2015 Krîjanovski reached the quarter-finals, in which he was defeated by the eventual world champion Älibek Omarow . In April 2015, he won the Tyrin Cup by beating Alexei Shoshin 7-4 and moved into the final at the superfinal of the World Championships , an invitation tournament in Surgut with the eleven best World Cup participants of the previous year, in which he beat Wladislaw Osminin (2: 4, 4: 3, 1: 3) lost. After he was eliminated as defending champion in the round of 16 against Jauhen Saltouski at the 2015 European Championship , he reached the final in two tournaments in July 2015; at the Asian Open he lost 7-0 to Artur Piwtschenko and at the Stavropol Cup he had to admit defeat to Nikita Liwada 5-1. At the Dynamic Pyramid World Cup 2015 , he was eliminated in the round of 16 against eventual world champion Dastan Lepschakow . After reaching the quarter-finals at the Savvidi Cup and the Kremlin Cup , he also reached the quarter-finals of the 2015 Free Pyramid World Cup , where he was defending champion, in which he lost to Jernar Tschimbayew . In December 2015 he won the governor's cup in Ulyanovsk by beating Viktor Loktew 7-2 in the final .

In April 2016, Krîjanovski scored his first World Cup victory (combined pyramid) when he beat Artur Pivchenko 6: 5 in the final of the Prince Open . At the Dynamic Pyramid World Cup he reached the round of 16. In November he reached the semifinals of the Kremlin Cup , in which he was defeated by the eventual tournament winner Dmytro Biloserow 3: 5. At the Free Pyramid World Cup in 2016 he was eliminated in the round of 16 against eventual world champion Älichan Qaranejew 6: 7.

Since 2017: Second world title

At the Combined Pyramid World Cup 2017 he was eliminated after an opening defeat against Danijel Aschybek in the round of 64. In 2017 Krîjanovski did not make it beyond the quarter-finals in any tournament. He reached this round at the Ajara Open , the Kremlin Cup and the World Cup final tournament.

After the less successful previous year, Krîjanovski started 2018 with his first World Cup victory in the Free Pyramid when he defeated Russian Maxim Kotschkin 6-4 in the final. He withdrew his participation in the Dynamic Pyramid World Cup 2018 at short notice. In the following months he moved into the final at two major tournaments and had to admit defeat in each of the playoffs; at the Moscow Mayor's Cup he lost to Dmytro Biloserow (5: 6) and at the Kremlin Cup to Oleg Yerkulew (4: 5). In December 2018 he became world champion in the Free Pyramid for the second time in Tyumen . He prevailed 7-0 in the final against Russia's Artyom Balow and was the second player to win a World Cup final after Älichan Qaranejew ( Combined Pyramid 2008 ).

A few months after his second World Cup title, Krîjanovski moved into a World Cup final at the Combined Pyramid World Cup in March 2019 , but this time he had to admit defeat to defending champion Iossif Abramov 2: 6. A little later he moved into the final twice in the Legend Cup tournament series and lost there to Suhrob Pirmatov ( 2-4 ) and Asis Madaminow ( 3-4 ). In August 2019, the Free Pyramid World Cup took place in Cholponata , where Krîjanovski was the defending champion. However, he canceled his participation and justified this, among other things, with a changed mode and an introduced time limit for the finals. After the World Cup, which was sometimes perceived as chaotic, Krîjanovski said he was happy not to have participated in the World Cup. This led to ongoing disputes with the world association IPC . In September 2019 Krîjanovski reached the semi-finals at the Chechen Open in Grozny . A month later he won the Savvidi Cup with a 5-3 final win over Asis Madaminow . In December 2019 he reached the semi-finals at the Admare Cup in Limassol , where he lost 4-5 to the eventual tournament winner Dmytro Biloserow.
