Dastan Lepschakow ( Russian Дастан Лепшаков ; born  August 17, 1997 in Bakaiata ) is a Kyrgyz billiard player who competes in the billiard variant Russian billiards . In 2015, he was the youngest player to become world champion in the dynamic pyramid discipline and in 2017 he was runner-up in the combined pyramid . With three titles he is also the record winner at the Savvidi Cup .

Life

Lepschakow was born in 1997 as the youngest of six children in Bakaiata , where he also grew up. His grandfather was a Karachay and came to Kyrgyzstan in the course of the exile of the Karachay in 1945 from the Caucasus region .

He studies volleyball at the Sports University in Bishkek .

Career

Russian billiards

At the age of about twelve years Lepschakow began playing billiards . His eldest brother opened a billiards club at that time, in which Dastan Lepschakow played at night after opening hours. After two years, his then coach Mirbek Eschenkulow sent him to Bishkek to Kanybek Duischebajew . During his first years in the capital, he watched videos of Kanybek Sagynbayev , whom he called his idol and whose successes spurred him on.

When the Combined Pyramid World Championship was held in Bishkek in 2012 , Lepschakow played an international tournament for the first time. After a 4-1 opening win against Sergei Kim , he lost to his compatriots Kanybek Sagynbajew (1: 4) and Asat Sabyr uulu (3: 4), which ended his World Cup debut in the preliminary round. At the beginning of 2013 he reached the semi-finals at a highly endowed tournament in the capital and was only just defeated by Sailan Adamow (4: 5). A little later he first took part in the Savvidi Cup and the Mayor's Cup in Moscow , but retired early.

In his second World Cup participation, Lepschakow made it to the quarter-finals in July 2013. He defeated former world champion Jernar Tschimbajew (5: 1) as well as Avetis Avetisyan (5: 3), Swjataslau Sjamjonau (5: 4) and Dieter Johns (6: 3) at the Dynamic Pyramid World Cup 2013 , before entering the round the last 8 defeated the reigning Free Pyramid World Champion Wladislaw Osminin with 3: 6. A little later he had to give in the second round of the Free Pyramid to Belarusian Jauhen Kurta 2: 7 after he had prevailed in the first round match against former world champion Älichan Qaranejew (7: 4). In October 2013 he reached the semi-finals of the Junior World Championship (Free Pyramid) and lost 5-6 against Kirill Jurin . A little later, his first participation in the Kremlin Cup (65th place) and the St. Petersburg Open (qualifying round) followed.

In early 2014 Lepschakow became Kyrgyz junior runner-up after a final defeat against Asslan Shorokulow . Shortly afterwards he reached the quarter-finals at his first World Cup tournament , where he failed to Oleg Yerkulew (3: 5). In August 2014 he was in Tscholponata with a 6-2 final victory against his compatriot Tschyngys Scholotschijew Junior World Champion in the combined pyramid discipline. A few days later, at the Combined Pyramid World Championship for men , held at the same place, he made it into the round of 32, in which he was defeated by former world champion Nikita Liwada with 1: 6. In September he was Kyrgyz champions (Dynamic Pyramid) with a 6-1 win against Ysatbek Ratbekow . At the Dynamic Pyramid World Cup in 2014 , he reached the sixteenth finals, which he just lost to Alexander Muravyov ( 5-6 ). In the Free Pyramid he was eliminated in the same year in both the juniors and the men in the preliminary round.

At the beginning of 2015, Lepschakow won the final against Keldi Ismailow (6: 5) Kyrgyz champion in the combined pyramid and was eliminated a little later at the combined pyramid World Cup in the preliminary round. In June 2015 he secured the national championship title in the Free Pyramid, this time against Ilyas Adamov (7: 6). A month later he reached the semi-finals of the Asian Cup , in which he lost 4-7 to the eventual winner Artur Piwtschenko . A few days after he was eliminated in the preliminary round at the Junior World Championships (Free Pyramid) in Moscow, he became World Champion in the Combined Pyramid in Imatra ( Finland ) in October . Lepschakow, who defeated the reigning Free Pyramid World Champion Serghei Krîjanovski as well as Pawlo Radionow and Nikita Liwada before beating Belarusian Jauhen Saltouski 7-1 in the final , was the second Kyrgyz world champion in the dynamic after last year's winner Kanybek Sagynbajew Pyramid and the third World Cup medalist in Russian billiards from the Central Asian state. At 18 years, 2 months and 8 days he is still the youngest world champion in the dynamic pyramid. A few weeks later the Free Pyramid World Cup ended for him with a 4: 7 opening defeat against Dmitri Storoshenko .

At the beginning of 2016, Lepschakow took third place at the superfinal of the world championships , an invitation tournament for the ten best players from the world championships last year. A little later he reached the quarter-finals of the Combined Pyramid World Cup , in which he was defeated by his compatriot Asis Madaminow 2: 6. After finishing third in the opening tournament of the Prince Open , he reached the round of 16 at the Moscow Mayor's Cup. In September 2016 he won the Savvidi Cup in Rostov-on-Don . The final, in which the Russian Dmitri Schkoda was able to make up a 1: 4 deficit to make it 5: 5, was decided in the play-off with the fifteenth and last ball. One month later, the Dynamic Pyramid World Championship was held in Bishkek. Defending champion Lepschakow won his opening game against Dauren Urynbajew , but the World Cup ended for him in the second round with a 6-7 defeat against Jaroslaw Tarnowezkyj . At the Kremlin Cup and the Free Pyramid World Cup in 2016 , he was also eliminated in the round of 32.

In April 2017 he finished third at the Royal Cup in Moscow. A few days later he made it into a World Cup final for the second time in Jugorsk . At the World Cup in the Combined Pyramid , the only world championship held in 2017, he defeated Kanybek Sagynbajew, Andrei Freise and Dmytro Biloserow , among others , before he had to admit defeat to 17-year-old Russian Iossif Abramov in the final with 5: 6 . In September he was a member of the Kyrgyz squad at the Asian Indoor & Martial Arts Games in Ashgabat , Turkmenistan , where Russian billiards was played for the first time. In the Free Pyramid competition he defeated the former pool world champion Francisco Bustamante before losing in the quarterfinals to the later silver medalist Jernar Tschimbajew (1: 5). In the dynamic pyramid he was also defeated by the later finalist, the Turkmen Kamaladdin Babajew (2: 5), but he was already defeated in the round of 16. In October 2017, Lepschakow managed to defend his title at the Savvidi Cup with a 6-2 final win over Aleksandr Sidorov . At the final tournament of the Prince Open 2017, however, he was eliminated in the sixteenth finals. At the end of the year he moved into the final of the Swojaka Cup and lost 6-1 to Dmytro Biloserow.

At the beginning of 2018, Lepschakow won the Mayor's Cup in Kaliningrad , in which he prevailed 6-1 in the final against Alexander Chepikov . A little later he reached the quarter-finals of the Dynamic Pyramid World Cup , in which he was defeated by the eventual finalist Iossif Abramov with 2: 6. At the third tournament of the Free Pyramid World Cup , he won the bronze medal after losing to Alexander Tschepikow in the semifinals. In October 2018 he won the Savvidi Cup in Rostov-on-Don for the third time in a row . In the final against local hero Iossif Abramov, Lepschakow prevailed after falling 2-0 down with 5-2. A little later he reached the quarterfinals of the World Cup finals. At the end of the year he won his third World Cup medal, this time in the Free Pyramid , making him the second Kyrgyz after Kanybek Sagynbajew to achieve a podium in all three disciplines. In the semifinals he had to admit defeat to Russian Artyom Balow 4: 7.

In March 2019, he reached the semifinals for the second time in a row at the Combined Pyramid World Cup, which was not held in the previous year . There he met Serghei Krîjanovski, against whom he lost 5-6 in a hard-fought match, with the last rack only being decided with the fourteenth ball. A week after the World Cup, Lepschakow won the Combined Pyramid World Cup in Moscow with a 6-2 final victory over Artyom Balow . In August 2019 he reached the last sixteen at the Free Pyramid World Cup, which was played for the first time in Kyrgyzstan , in which he was defeated by his compatriot Kairat Absatarow . A month later, he made it to the quarter-finals for the first time at the Kremlin Cup , where he lost to Mikhail Zaryov . At the Savvidi Cup 2019 , after winning the tournament three times in a row, Lepschakow had to admit defeat to Russian Nikita Wolodin in the round of 16 . In December 2019, he won the Minsk Cup in the Belarusian capital by beating Dmytro Biloserow 6-2 in the final .

Lepschakow occasionally plays snooker . At the Kyrgyz championship in 2014 he reached the quarter-finals. A year later he had to admit defeat 1: 5 to eventual winner Muchammed Karimberdi uulu in the semifinals .

Others

After his 2015 World Cup victory, Lepschakow criticized the fact that women were not promoted enough in Kyrgyz billiards and stated that after his active career he wanted to become a women's pool coach.
