Iskitim ( Russian Искитим ) is a city in Novosibirsk Oblast ( Russia ) with 60,078 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).
geography
The city is located in the southeastern part of the West Siberian lowlands , about 65 km south of the Oblast capital Novosibirsk , on the Berd River , a right tributary of the Ob . The climate is continental.
The city of Iskitim is administratively directly subordinate to the Oblast and at the same time the administrative center of the Rajon of the same name .
history
Iskitim was built in 1933 as a workers' settlement near the cement factory that was built there and received town charter in 1938.
