Alessandro Carletti

Alessandro Carletti (* 1982 in Rome ) is an Italian lighting designer who works at major opera houses .

Carletti studied photography and painting in order to explore light - a passion that stems from the family, his father Mario Carletti is also a lighting designer. As a child he followed his father's work in the productions of Carmelo Bene and at the Teatro Eliseo in Milan. He started out as a cameraman for television and later became an assistant to Vincenzo Leoni . He made his first experiences in opera at the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro under the guidance of Mauro Brecciaroli . The meeting with Guido Levi , with whom he was responsible for lighting design for several productions, was significant for his career .

Since 2009, Carletti has been working closely with the director Damiano Michieletto and the set designer Paolo Fantin , whom he has so far accompanied to Valencia, Tokyo, Vienna, Salzburg, Milan and London.
