Aletta Bonn

Aletta Bonn is a German biologist and professor for " Ecosystem Services " at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena . The professorship is financed by the Helmholtz Center for Environmental Research - UFZ in Leipzig. This professorship is part of the UFZ's contribution to the German Center for Integrative Biodiversity Research (iDiv) in Leipzig.

Life

Aletta Bonn studied biology at the Free University of Berlin , the University of Bangor ( Wales ) and the Technical University of Braunschweig . In 2000 she did her doctorate at the TU Braunschweig. From 2001 to 2012 Bonn worked at the University of Sheffield as well as the Peak District National Park and the International Union for Nature Conservation (IUCN) in Great Britain in the field of participatory nature conservation research. There she was involved in several regional and national ecosystem assessments as a project manager and author. Since 2012 she worked at the Free University of Berlin and at the UFZ. At the UFZ she was part of the scientific coordination team of the TEEB DE - Natural Capital Germany project , which is financed by the Federal Environment Ministry.

iDiv

Bonn took on the fourth of a total of eight professorships at iDiv.

Aletta Bonn's focus is on the study of ecosystem services . Your research goals are to identify and quantify these and thus to find out in which way biological diversity , ecosystem functions and ecosystem services are linked. Another research question is whether and what synergies and conflicts exist between them and how biodiversity and ecosystem services can be protected. She heads the Citizen Science capacity development program BürGErreate WISsen (GEWISS), which she is developing in close cooperation with the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin and the GEWISS consortium.
