Nico Eisenhauer (born February 22, 1980 in Lindenfels , Hessen ) is a German biologist , soil ecologist and professor of experimental interaction ecology at the University of Leipzig .

Scientific career

Nico Eisenhauer studied from 2000 to 2005 at the Technical University of Darmstadt , where he obtained his diploma in animal ecology with distinction. He then also did his doctorate at the Technical University of Darmstadt on the subject of "Earthworms in a plant diversity gradient: Direct and indirect effects on plant competition and establishment" and received his doctorate in 2008 (summa cum laude). From 2008 to 2010 he was a research associate in the Jena Experiment at the TU Darmstadt and the Georg-August University in Göttingen . From 2010 to 2012 he was a research fellow at the University of Minnesota . In 2012 he became a research assistant at the Technical University of Munich , Emmy Noether Junior Research Group Leader at the Technical University of Munich and completed his habilitation at the Georg-August University of Göttingen ( Venia Legendi in Ecology and Zoology). Between 2012 and 2014 he was W2 Professor for Terrestrial Ecology at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena .

Nico Eisenhauer has been Professor of Experimental Interaction Ecology at the University of Leipzig and working group leader at the German Center for Integrative Biodiversity Research (iDiv) since 2014 .

Since 2015 he has been the spokesman for the research group "Jena Experiment" funded by the German Research Foundation. He is also head of the iDiv Ecotron and the MyDiv experiment, as well as a founding member of the Soil BON consortium.

His main research interests are the causes and ecosystem consequences of changes in biodiversity.
