Alex Moore (dance teacher)

Alex Moore (* 10. November 1901 in Essex , † 26. February 1991 in Ashley Park , Surrey ) was a British dance teacher , the most important art books for the ballroom dance wrote. He is also known as the dance pope in dance sport circles .

His life's work is the book Ballroom Dancing . It was used for decades, updated several times and supplemented by other works. It was later renamed The Revised Technique of Ballroom Dancing .

The book The Ballroom Technique , published in the 1990s , can be described as the successor .

Moore was chairman and later president of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD). From 1932 he published the Alex Moore Monthly Letter Service , a regularly appearing magazine on ballroom dancing, which contained information for dancers and dance teachers as well as information on competitions. It was distributed in several languages ​​in 40 countries.
