Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing
Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) is an international membership organization founded in 1904 by dance teachers in the UK .
history
The founding of the organization resulted from a meeting of 200 dance teachers in 1904 at the Hotel Cecil in the Covent Garden district of London . During this meeting, the teachers recognized that an organization was needed to protect their interests and to establish teaching standards and decided to establish it, which they established a short time later, on July 25, 1904 in the Hotel Cecil . Robert Morris Crompton was elected first president. From 1906 the members met at regular intervals for congresses . Since 1907 the organization has published a publication called Dance Journal , now DANCE Magazine .
