Alex Sharpe

Alex Sharpe (born May 4, 1972 in Ireland ) is an Irish singer who was best known for her membership in the group Celtic Woman .

Career

She began her career as Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz , which was performed at the Olympia Theater . She then played Janet in The Rocky Horror Show , young Sally in Follies in Concert , Jenny in Aspects of Love and Mila in Aloha Kamano by Sean Purcell. She also played Éponine in Les Misérables by the Cameron Mackintosh Company in England and Ireland and on the Les Misérables concert tour . Sharpe created the role of Bernadette in the musical The Beautiful Game by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Ben Elton . When she returned to Ireland, she played the role of Kate Foley in The Wireman at the Gaiety Theater .

Sharpe has sung with the Icelandic Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Danish National Symphony Orchestra and the RTÉ Concert Orchestra . She made recordings for the Evita soundtrack with Madonna . She also played in a concert for the charity The Prince's Trust at the Mayflower Theater. In 2006 she traveled to Chicago to star in the premiere of the musical The Pirate Queen as director.

Celtic woman

When Lisa Kelly left the Celtic Woman because of her pregnancy, Sharpe became a member for 2008. She said, “It's a different style than I'm used to. But I've enjoyed learning the technique. My background is musical theater, so this is something very different for me ... But my philosophy is, you're always growing as a performer. There's always so much to learn. ”(In German, for example:“ It's a different style than the one I'm used to. But I like to learn the technology. My professional background is actually the musical, so it's something different for me ... But my philosophy is, as an artist you always grow. There is always so much to learn. ”) When she joined the group, she said that she was not familiar with the group's music; "I'd never seen any of their shows ... In 2009 Sharpe became a full member, taking the place of Órla Fallon when she left the group. She toured with the group on the Isle of Hope Tour in 2009 and appeared on the CD and DVD Songs from the Heart , which was released in January 2010. From February to May 2010 the group toured North America as part of their Songs from the Heart Tour. In May 2010, Sharpe announced that she was leaving Celtic Woman to be with her family all day.

Private life

Sharpe is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints . In 2002 she had a son.
