Alexander Brockmeier (born December 4, 1992 in Rheine ) is a German politician of the FDP . He has been a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia since June 30, 2017 and is its youngest member in the 17th legislative period .

Life

As the younger of two brothers, Brockmeier grew up in Rheine. Brockmeier was head boy during his school days. After graduating from high school in 2012, he studied law at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster and passed the first state examination in January 2017.

Political party

Brockmeier has been chairman of the FDP district association Steinfurt since February 2016. Before that he was already active in the state board of the Young Liberals .

Offices and mandates

Brockmeier ran for the state election in 2017 directly for the Steinfurt II state electoral district and received 7.3% of the first votes. His party, for which he ran at number 29 on the state list, received 10.6% of the second vote. Since the FDP NRW achieved 28 mandates in the election, Brockmeier came first in line. Since the elected member of the state parliament Martina Hannen had initially announced that she would waive her mandate, it was expected that he would move into the state parliament when it was constituted. Since Hannen contrary to initial intentions but accepted their terms, he advanced only after the formation of a government for Dirk Wedel after which verbeamteter State had become.

Brockmeier is a member of three state parliament committees: the committee for family, children and youth, the school committee and the interior committee. Within the FDP parliamentary group, he is the spokesman for youth and data protection. He is also the spokesman for the Executive Commission.
