Alexander Gerassimowitsch Wanifatjew ( Russian Александр Герасимович Ванифатьев * August 11 . Jul / 24. August  1906 greg. In Perm ; † 12. October 1970 in Leningrad ) was a Soviet vice-admiral . From 1949 to 1951 he commanded the Caspian Higher Officers School of the Soviet Naval Fleet in Baku .

Life

Wanifatjew attended the Naval Cadet School from September 1922 to May 1925 and the Frunze Naval Officer School for the following three years. From May 1928 served as a navigator on the cruiser Aurora . From July 1933 he was in command of the patrol boat Metel and in April of the following year in command of the Avisos Abrek . From February 1937 he served as commandant of the supply ship Kronstadt and from March 1938 as first officer of the liner October Revolution . His further use took place in March 1940 as commander of the archipelago in the Baltic fleet and from June as commander of the cruiser Petropavlovsk . On August 31, 1941 Wanifatjew was used as a course leader for the training of young officers for the Baltic fleet. From April 1942 he commanded the naval base in Ossinowesk. As a commander he served from December 1942 on the liner Marat , from February of the following year on the cruiser Maxim Gorki and from March 1, 1946 on the liner October Revolution .

From October 1947 to September 1948 he graduated from the Voroshilov Naval War Academy . On October 14, 1948, he worked as Deputy Chief of Staff of the 4th Baltic Fleet. From April 9, 1949 to March 1951, he commanded the Higher Caspian Naval War School in Baku. On May 11, 1949, he was appointed Rear Admiral. On March 10, 1951, he took over the management of the Frunze Higher Naval War School in Leningrad. A year later, on July 25, 1952, Vanifatiev became the commander of the Leningrad naval base. After order No. 002 of April 4, 1956 of the Ministry of Defense of the USSR, the Kronstadt naval fortress and the Leningrad military base were combined to form the Leningrad naval district and placed directly under the command of the naval fleet, he took on the role of the first deputy commander of this naval district. On August 18, 1956, he became an assistant to the commander of the Pacific Fleet . On December 9, 1959, he again commanded the Frunze Naval War School and in February 1959 became deputy head of the Naval War Academy and head of the academic courses for officers. On February 22, 1963 he was promoted to Vice Admiral.

Due to health problems, Vanifatjew resigned from the military on February 21, 1968. He died in Leningrad in 1970 and was buried in the Serafimov Cemetery.
