Alexander Glebowitsch Newsorow ( Russian Алекса́ндр Гле́бович Невзо́ров ; born August 3, 1958 in Leningrad , RSFSR , USSR ) is a Russian journalist, reporter, presenter and publicist. Between 1993 and 2007 he was a member of the State Duma .

Career

Newsorov graduated from general education school in his native Leningrad (now Saint Petersburg) in 1975. His professional career began in 1983 on Leningrad TV as a stuntman . He became known throughout the Soviet Union from the end of 1987 as a journalist, author and presenter of the television channel “600 Seconds”, which was then broadcast in all Union republics.

In 1989, the Newski Prospect newspaper published a calendar entitled “The Most Famous Leningraders in the World” with a photo of Newsorov as the cover.

In December 1990, Newsorov survived an attempted assassination while meeting an unknown informant, who shot the journalist three times and injured his heart.

In January 1991 Newsorov made the film “Nashi” (Ours) about the events in the Lithuanian capital Vilnius , which was shown in the Pervy Canal . In it he stylized the OMON units, who violently attacked the demonstrators, as heroes. A short time later, he founded the nationalist movement “Die Ours” (not to be confused with the youth organization of the same name, which is close to Russian President Vladimir Putin ) and, during the August coup in Moscow , sided with the state committee for the state of emergency , which is responsible for the preservation the Soviet Union was. During the Russian constitutional crisis in 1993 , Newsorov supported Boris Yeltsin's opponents . In December of the same year he moved to the Duma as an independent candidate and was re-elected four times in a row until 2007.

After the cessation of his broadcast in 1993 Newsorow went to the theaters of war and reported as a reporter on the Yugoslav wars as well as on the trouble spots in the post-Soviet area (including Transnistria and Nagorno-Karabakh ).

Between 1994 and 1998 Newsorow was an advisor to Boris Abramowitsch Berezowski . He also worked as a film and radio consultant for the mayor of Saint Petersburg Vladimir Anatoljewitsch Jakowlew .

From 1995 to 1999 Newsorow moderated the programs “Dikoe pole” (Wild Field), “Dni” (Days) and “Newsorow”.

In the 2000s, Newsorow gave up political journalism and discovered an interest in horses. In 2005, his documentary “Horse Encyclopedia ” (Russian Лошадиная энциклопедия ) was released on Perwy Kanal . He also founded a riding school called "Nevzorov Haute Ecole" and wrote the book "Horse crucified and risen" (Russian Лошадь распятая и воскресшая ).

Newsorov has been a confidante of Vladimir Putin since February 2012.

Since May 2016 he has acted as an advisor to Konstantin Ernst, the general director of Perwy Kanal.
