Alexander Herzog (veterinarian)

Alexander Herzog (* 10. October 1934 in the neck , Czechoslovakia ; † 20th December 2016 in pouring ) was a German veterinary scientist , emeritus professor and president of the Association of Veterinarians Hesse .

Herzog was born in Halže in 1934 in what was then the Tachau district in the Bohemian Forest and came to West Germany after the end of the Second World War . After completing his school education, he studied veterinary medicine at the veterinary faculty of the former Justus Liebig University in Gießen . There he received his doctorate in veterinary medicine in 1961 . In 1971 he obtained his habilitation in the veterinary medicine department of the Justus Liebig University and then became a professor at the Institute for Veterinary Pathology, most recently as head of the Working Group on Veterinary Genetics and Cytogenetics . In 2000 he retired.

In the same year he was elected President of the State Veterinary Chamber of Hessen (LTK Hessen). He held this office until November 2012. In November 2012 he was appointed honorary president of the State Veterinary Association of Hesse and was awarded the Hellmuth Schulz Medal.
