Alexander Hoffmann (born September 17, 1947 in Ludwigsburg ) is a German non-fiction author and writer .

Hoffmann grew up in Baden-Württemberg, then lived in Frankfurt am Main and graduated from high school in Düsseldorf . In 1968 he completed a traineeship at the Frankfurter Neue Presse , studying political science, history and German at the same time. Years as a political editor and correspondent for the Frankfurter Rundschau and the Süddeutsche Zeitung followed . In 1983 he switched to business as a freelance management consultant based in Frankfurt am Main.

In 1990 the first non-fiction book, Die neue Bundesländer , was published, followed by numerous other publications in the fields of contemporary history, history and medicine, as sole author or together with co-authors. In 2006 Hoffmann expanded his range to include fiction . His first novel, Der Wolkenschieber, describes the downfall of an advertising man in the midst of the Düsseldorf society. The book Bröckedde , published in 2008, sheds light on the human-all- too -human in a fictional Rotary club. The fictional pieces mainly take place in the world of business and high society. Hoffmann's style is laconic, ironic, entertaining and eloquent. In 2019 his first crime novel Hopfen, Malz & Blut was published .

Hoffmann now lives in Frankfurt am Main and Wissembourg , France.
