Alexander Jakowlewitsch Danilewski

Alexander Yakovlevich Danilevsky , Russian Александр Яковлевич Данилевский (November * 28 jul. / 10. December  1838 greg. In Kharkov ; † 18th June 1923 in Petrograd ) was a Russian biochemist , physiologist and pharmacologist .

Life

Danilewski finished his medical studies in Kharkov in 1860 , in 1863 he obtained a doctorate in medicine and in the same year received an extraordinary professorship in Kazan . Between 1878 and 1885 he went abroad to work in various laboratories. In 1886 he received the professorship for medicinal chemistry in Kharkov. 1892 another at the Military Medical Academy . From 1906 to 1910 he was head of the Military Medical Academy.

In 1862 Danilewski was the first to separate the enzymes of the pancreas and thus the detection of trypsin . He digested fresh pancreatic tissue with sand and water in a mortar , removed the coarse constituents, and saturated the solution with magnesium oxide , thereby separating the pancreatic lipase and other constituents. He separated the filtrate with trypsin and elastase with an alcohol-ether- collodion solution .
