Alexander Jurjewitsch Derewen

Alexander Jurjewitsch Derewen ( Russian Александр Юрьевич Деревень ; born March 26, 1992 in Tolyatti ) is a Russian handball player who is mostly used on the left back .

The 1.93 m tall and 91 kg heavy right-handed player began playing handball in his hometown in handball school. Since 2012 he has been in the squad of the Russian series champion Medvedi Chekhov , with whom he made his international debut in the EHF Champions League 2012/13 and failed in the round of 16 at THW Kiel . From 2013 to 2015 he won the Russian championship title. After Medwedi ran into financial difficulties in the summer of 2013, Derewen remained loyal to the club, unlike many seasoned players who moved abroad. He has been under contract with the Macedonian club RK Vardar Skopje since the 2015/16 season . In 2016 and 2017 he won the Macedonian Cup, in 2016 and 2017 the championship and in 2017 the EHF Champions League. In the summer of 2017 Derewen moved to the Russian first division club GK Spartak Moscow .

In the Russian junior national team, Alexander Derewen was always one of the most dangerous players. At the U-18 European Championship 2010 (9th place) he scored 50, at the U-19 World Championship 2011 (13th place) 48, at the U-20 European Championship 2012 (9th place) 40 and at the U -19 World Cup 2011 (13th place) -21 World Cup 2013 (17th place) 24 goals and 15 assists. He scored 55 goals in 23 international matches for the Russian national team (as of December 2018).
