Alexander Pöllhuber (born April 30, 1985 in Salzburg ) is an Austrian football player on the position of defender .
Career
Pöllhuber began playing football in his childhood at the Salzburg city club USV Leopoldskron-Moos and, as a youngster, moved to the Bundesliga youth center in Salzburg, from where he joined the amateur team of what was then SV Austria Salzburg . In 2004 he was promoted to the Bundesliga team and received his first professional contract. Pöllhuber made his debut in the Bundesliga on October 23, 2004 against Wacker Innsbruck . He came on in the 74th minute for Markus Scharrer ; the game ended in a 3-1 defeat. After the Salzburg soccer club was taken over by the beverage manufacturer Red Bull , he was one of the few Austrian soccer players to be taken over by the new FC Red Bull . As he could not prevail under the coaches Trapattoni and Matthäus , he switched to SK Sturm Graz on loan in the summer of 2006 . His loan contract expired at the beginning of 2007 and it was loaned to Admira Wacker Mödling by Red Bull . After the descent of the Südstädter, he moved to SV Mattersburg in 2008 . In 2013 he was relegated for the second time with a team from the Bundesliga and moved to SCR Altach . He left SCR Altach after the 2015/16 season. For the 2016/17 season he moved to the national division SK Bischofshofen .
Pöllhuber's position is central defense. He is 2.02 meters tall and was a member of the Austrian U-21 national team .

Trivia
Alexander Pöllhuber is the identical twin brother of Peter Pöllhuber , who also works as a professional footballer. On December 1, 2012, this led to a novelty in the Bundesliga, when the two faced each other in the match between SV Mattersburg and FC Trenkwalder Admira (final score: 3: 0).
